It is the largest town in the Little Karoo region. The town is home to the world’s largest Ostrich population with a number of specialized ostrich breeding farms. Visit Cango Caves – the Klein Karoo’s oldest and most popular attraction and one of the world’s natural wonder. Next, visit the Safari Ostrich Farm – the ultimate “ostrich experience” with thousands of ostriches to view from incubation stage to full grown adults that visitors can ride. The farm has an excellent restaurant specializing in South African Cuisine, especially ostrich meat. It also boasts a curio shop including an excellent range of ostrich products. The beauty of Pilanesberg is reflected in a large central lake, the Mankwe Dam. Over time, wind and water have carved a spectacular landscape with rocky outcrops, open grasslands, wooded valleys and thickets. Day 1 Oudtshoorn (Wed): Depart by 07h30 from Cape Town and travel on to Stellenbosch for further collections. Then continue via the town of Montagu on the scenic ‘Route 62’ to the pretty village of Barrydale where stop for tea (own account). Then it’s on to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world’ thanks to its huge ostrich industry. Day 2 Knysna (Thu): After breakfast, this morning go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded, for good reason, as one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders.
